Privacy policy
Last updated: August 2026
This policy describes how CELPIP Test collects, uses and protects your information.
1. Data controller
The data controller is AZSoft, publisher of the CELPIP Test app. For any question about your data: contact@azaza.fr.
2. Information collected
CELPIP Test uses Firebase anonymous authentication. No personally identifying information is collected:
- Learning progress (accuracy per skill, mastery per topic, mock exam history)
- Preferences (your CLB target, the immigration path you selected, the skill you find hardest, your test date)
- An anonymous Firebase Authentication identifier
- Technical data (app version, platform, crash events via Crashlytics, anonymous usage statistics via Firebase Analytics)
- Google Gemini (via Firebase AI Logic) — optional correction of your Writing texts
- Content reports (questions you flag as incorrect)
3. Microphone and voice recording (Speaking)
The app can access the microphone so you can record yourself during Speaking practice and play it back. Those recordings are stored only on your device: they are never uploaded to our servers and never shared with anyone. You can delete them at any time from within the app. Microphone access requires your explicit permission and can be revoked in your system settings.
4. How the data is used
- To synchronise your progress across your devices
- To report your practice accuracy per skill, per band and per mock exam
- To improve the app and its adaptive review
- To fix content errors you report
- To diagnose technical problems through Firebase Crashlytics
The app does not convert your practice accuracy into a CELPIP Level or a CLB level. Paragon does not publish a table mapping correct answers to a level, so any such number would be invented.
5. Legal basis for processing
Under Article 6 GDPR, our processing rests on:
- Your consent (Art. 6-1-a) — for microphone access and for synchronised backup of your progress;
- Our legitimate interest (Art. 6-1-f) — for operating the app, security, fraud prevention and service improvement;
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6-1-b) — for managing your premium subscription.
6. Third-party services and processors
- Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) — anonymous authentication
- Cloud Firestore (Google LLC) — progress storage and content reports
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — crash reporting
- Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) — anonymous usage statistics
- RevenueCat, Inc. — premium subscription management
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store — payment processing
These services act as processors. They are subject in particular to Google's privacy policy and to RevenueCat's.
No advertising. No ad network is embedded in the app.
7. International data transfers
Firebase (Google LLC) and RevenueCat, Inc. process some data on servers located in the United States. Those transfers outside the European Economic Area and Canada are covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and by the safeguards these providers put in place.
8. Storage and retention
Data is stored locally (via Hive) and synchronised over an encrypted connection with Cloud Firestore. Progress data is kept for as long as you use the app. You can request its deletion at any time by writing to contact@azaza.fr: we then delete the anonymous identifier and the associated data within 30 days. Speaking recordings stay on your device and can be deleted directly from the app.
Deletion cannot, however, cover texts you chose to submit for assisted correction: once sent, they are governed by Google's terms (see the section below).
9. Security
Communications are encrypted with TLS. No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
10. Children
The app is not intended for children under 15.
11. Your rights
Under the GDPR (EU) and PIPEDA (Canada), you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. To exercise them: contact@azaza.fr.
You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in France, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr); in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (www.priv.gc.ca).
12. Changes
Changes will be published on this page with an updated date.
13. Assisted correction (optional)
The app offers correction of your Writing texts. This feature is optional: it only runs after you explicitly ask for it, and the rest of the app works without it.
When you request it, the text you have just written is sent to Google (Gemini) for analysis. Under that service's terms, Google may use the content to improve its services, including through human review. We therefore recommend that you do not include sensitive personal information in it.
No text is ever sent without your request, and you can stop using the feature at any time.
