CELPIP-General is an English test designed by Paragon Testing Enterprises, a subsidiary of the University of British Columbia, and one of the tests IRCC accepts for Canadian immigration. It is computer-delivered in a single sitting: Listening (6 parts, 38 items, 46-55 min), Reading (4 parts, 38 items, 43-56 min), Writing (2 tasks, 53 min) and Speaking (8 tasks, 15 min) — under 3 hours in total. CLB stands for Canadian Language Benchmarks, the scale IRCC uses to express English ability. CELPIP results are reported as CELPIP Levels, and Paragon publishes how those correspond to CLB. The app uses CLB throughout because that is the scale an immigration application is written in. Note that NCLC is the French-language scale and does not apply to an English test.

No, and that is deliberate. Paragon publishes the CELPIP / CLB / CEFR correspondence but does not publish a table converting a number of correct answers into a level — the real test is marked against Paragon's own rubric. So the app reports what it can honestly measure: your accuracy per skill, per band and per mock exam, and the topics you are weakest on. Turning "78% correct" into "CELPIP 9" would be inventing an official-looking number.

IRCC accepts both for English. CELPIP is delivered entirely on a computer in one sitting, including Speaking, which is recorded rather than conducted with an examiner, and it uses Canadian English throughout. IELTS General Training is available in more countries and its Speaking test is a face-to-face interview. Neither is scored more generously than the other; choose on test-centre availability and on which format suits you.

Practice content is written at CLB 5, 7, 9 and 10, which are the bands that matter for the common immigration paths, and the app asks which one you are aiming for during onboarding so it can weight your practice. It does not tell you which band your application needs — only IRCC can answer that, and the requirements differ by programme.

No: everything is original and authored by our team in the format of the real test. We respect Paragon's intellectual property. The organisation names that appear in the material (Northline Logistics, Cedar Analytics, Maple Grove Foods, Lakeview College and so on) are fictional, used for teaching purposes.

Yes. All questions, the 1056 audio clips and the flashcards are available offline after the first download.

A mock reproduces a full sitting: Listening (38 items, 55 min) and Reading (38 items, 56 min), at the official part proportions, plus Writing (53 min) and Speaking (15 min). Listening and Reading are published by Paragon as ranges (46-55 and 43-56); the app uses the upper bound of each, so a mock is never tighter than the real thing. There are 6 mocks. Every band has one, and CLB 7 and CLB 9 have two papers each — no question appears in more than one mock.

30 Writing prompts, each carrying both official tasks — an email (26 min) and a survey response (27 min) — with model answers written at the target band rather than above it, so a CLB 5 model reads like a CLB 5 answer. And 56 Speaking tasks covering all eight CELPIP task types, each with a recorded model answer you can listen to.

Yes. The audio is Canadian English and the situations are Canadian — workplaces, municipal services, tenancies, community life — because that is the register the test uses.
